Just a few months ago, Toyota announced its long-term sponsorship deal with the International Olympic Committee, making the automaker a major focal point of the upcoming 2020 Summer Games in Tokyo, along with two Winter Games and the Summer Games again in 2024.
As a part of Toyota’s sponsorship of the 2020 Olympics, Toyota will invest $2 billion, and launch no fewer than eight new vehicles, all of which will be designed to demonstrate its transportation-related expertise. With the addition of two existing models, the fleet of ten vehicles will be front-and-center at the upcoming games, highlighting Toyota’s vision of future mobility.
According to motoring.com.au, we know that the Toyota Mirai fuel cell vehicle will be among the lineup, along with a vehicle based on the Japan Taxi Concept. The other eight vehicles will be announced in the coming years.
While only time will tell what those other models will be, many reports predict that the next generation Prius (to be revealed at the 2015 Tokyo show in October) will likely fill one of the eight spots.
Here at Glen Toyota, we look forward to learning more about the vehicles to be featured at the upcoming 2020 Summer Games!
